What dish did you eat that made you vomit?

I traveled across North India from Jammu to Leh in the late 1980s.

I remember being at the bus station restaurant trying to buy some breakfast before the 20 hour bus ride and looking at the menu I saw something called a "filled omelette".

Sounds good, probably stuffed with tomatoes and potatoes or something. Unfortunately it was stuffed with coriander and chilli and for an 18 year old struggling with Indian spices, it was not a good choice.

Especially when I had to get on one of these for a 20 hour trip to the Himalayas (and the road was so bumpy)

I probably had the best view though, because if memory serves, I spent a lot of time with my head out the window depositing a stuffed tortilla on the mountain paths.

That trip was the longest of my life. It wasn't 20 hours either. Due to a landslide, we were stuck going nowhere for an additional 15 hours.

We noticed everyone getting out of their vehicles and cooking for themselves. Then we realized that we probably didn't have enough on us, especially after I left my breakfast 200km away. We thought we'd ask if we could buy some food from some of the truckers, which we thought would be easy. It was quite normal for scalpers and the like to sell anything. It wasn't until we got turned away by 3 or 4 people that we realized that no one knows how long we'll be on the mountain road.

Who in their right mind would sell their food when they're stranded in the middle of nowhere?

God knows how I survived those hours without proper food, I really can't remember. I remember filling water bottles from a strange stream and arriving at a small town called Thirot where there were a couple of shops and stalls and we managed to stock up a bit before continuing on.

On a side note, stuffed tortilla, is one of my favorite breakfasts now and I make it for myself once in a while, but, at the time, I was putting off chili and cilantro for a good 10 years.
